Our show in Toronto on September 18 has been moved from The Comfort Zone to El Mocambo!

July 11, 2014

We're over excited to announce that we'll finally do some shows in the USA and Canada in September! It has always been a dream for us to do
a US/Canada tour, and to start the tour in one of the coolest festivals in the country is an honor! Even though the tour is rather short we get to visit
many great places. We promise to give everything we have to give, so we recommend you to attend a show near you!

May 5, 2014

We're very proud to announce Baard Kolstad (Official) as the new permanent drummer of Leprous!

Baard Live

Baard did the entire 2013 Coal tour with us, and those of you who attended the shows knows that he’s an absolutely amazing drummer! His merits are very impressive in such a young age and reach from World Champion in the Roland V-Drums World Championship 2012, to being one of the most renowned street drummers out there (he has more hits on youtube than we can ever dream of), member in bands such as Borknagar, GodSeed and Rendezvous Point, as well as live member in InVain, Solefall and Ihsahn – just to mention a few. Despite looking rather busy, Baard has promised full dedication to Leprous!

Baard has the following to say:

“I've been a big Leprous fan for a very long time, and it was nothing short of amazing being asked to join the band full time. I got the offer to step in during their Coal Tour in 2013, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Taking over after such a unique and incredible dummer like Tobias, is both very scary and inspiring at the same time. I'm really looking forward to the times ahead! “

Tobias has been a very important member of Leprous for quite many years, and has played an important role in shaping Leprous into what we are today. For that we will be forever grateful!
However, It all came to a point where all parts agreed that it would be better for all parts if Baard took over the Leprous drum chair permanently. We’ve lost the count in how many projects Tobias is a part of, and Leprous being a very time challenging band made it quite hard for him to give us the dedication needed. We’re till in very good terms, and don’t be surprised if you see Tobias behind the drumkit on a Leprous show here and there! We wish him only the best for the future!

Tobias’ statement:

“I will no longer be a part of Leprous.
I’m doing a lot of different stuff in my musical career, and since Leprous is a band that needs full attention and dedication I think it’s time to move on. It’s really just a matter of lack of time, and both the band and me felt this was the natural evolution for the band as the situation is now.
I felt we had good connection musically, but sometimes change can be a good thing. Of course it’s sad that I will not be able to be playing \ hanging out that much with good friends, but I wish all the best for the band! “

It's never easy for a band to replace members, but we’re in very good spirit and we got more going than ever!
We’ve already written 21 new sketches for the new album, so the new team works perfectly! Please give Baard a warm welcome!

We're happy to announce our first UK tour - split headliner tour with Haken.

Official press release:

Haken, Leprous & Maschine join forces for UK tour

InsideOutMusic is extremely pleased to announce that three of its youngest and brightest bands will join forces for a UK & Irish tour later this year. Haken, Leprous & Maschine will all head out on the road together in October & November 2014 for what will be the biggest run of UK dates that any band has yet embarked on, showcasing some of the younger progressive talent that InsideOut have to offer.

The dates are as follows:

Haken, Leprous & Maschine:
Presented by Prog Magazine
23rd October, 2014 – London, The Garage
24th October, 2014 – Leamington Spa, Assembly
26th October, 2014 – Bristol, The Fleece
27th October, 2014 – Wolverhampton, Robin 2
29th October, 2014 – Dublin, The Village
30th October, 2014 – Liverpool, O2 Academy 2
31st October, 2014 – Manchester, Club Academy
1st November, 2014 – Edinburgh, The Liquid Room
2nd November, 2014 – York, The Duchess

London-based progressive metallers Haken have been going from strength to strength following the release of latest album ‘The Mountain’, with Prog Magazine calling it ‘an absolute triumph, a celebration of all the prog world holds dear.’ The band had this to say about the upcoming dates: “We can't wait to get back on the road this October for our first UK tour! We'll be sharing the stage with incredible Leprous and Maschine - it's gonna be a blast. We'll be playing songs from our back catalogue with the possibility of showcasing some new material. We're looking forward to seeing you there.”

Norwegian heavy proggers Leprous last year released their latest album ‘Coal’ with Metal Hammer calling it ‘further proof that forward-thinking, technical metal is in a rude state of health.’ This tour will see the band play in many cities they have never visited before, and they comment:
"So finally we get the chance to do a more extensive tour in the UK! It's a territory we've wanted to explore for a while and when we got the chance to the tour it with our very talented label mates Haken, the choice was easy. It will be our first shows ever in Ireland and Scotland, we will explore several new English cities and also be able to return to London again. Ever since I lived in England myself for a year (from 2009 - 2010), I've wanted to come back here for a proper tour! The nice thing about the UK, is that you have all these great cities in very close distance to each other! Which means less driving and more playing! We promise a very intense show, and hope to see as many as possible of our UK fans at the shows."

Brighton-based young progressive rockers Maschine released their impressive debut album ‘Rubidium’ last August, and this run of dates will mark the band’s first major tour. Classic Rock picked up on them, calling them ‘very promising indeed’, and the band have been voted Prog Magazine’s best new band. The bands leader Luke Machin says this:
“Maschine are massively pleased to be a part of this tour as each band are certain to bring something special for every one of these live shows. We will be performing tracks from our debut album ‘Rubidium’ and will also be looking forward to road testing some new material.”

One year has passed since our previous run with Therion, and we're all very excited to be heading out on our second tour of Europe at last in order to showcase "Bilateral" on stage as well. This is truly what we want to do, and we're very happy to be able to go together with Amorphis this time around. It's nice to see that we'll be visiting many new exciting places, but we're also pleased to see that we'll be returning to many of the great places we've been before. "Bilateral" features outstanding cover artwork by American surrealist Jeff Jordan (www.jeffjordanart.com), known best for his stunning work for THE MARS VOLTA. The album was also skillfully mixed and mastered at Fascination Street by Jens Bogren (OPETH, PAIN OF SALVATION, DEVIN TOWNSEND, SYMPHONY X, etc.), and is set to musically re-define what it means to be a progressive rock/metal band-both for the devotees of the genre and the fans looking on from a safe distance.

LEPROUS, the up 'n' coming Norwegian progressive/avantgarde metal sensation, are soon to release their much anticipated third album and InsideOutMusic debut release "Bilateral" on August 22nd, 2011 in Europe and August 23rd, 2011 in North America. In order to introduce this breathtakingly intense new album step by step, the band have now launched a first song via their Facebook profile:
Just visit www.facebook.com/leprousband and click on the "like" button to be able to check out the song "Restless".

The band's vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg comments on the track as follows: "Restless represent "Bilateral" in many ways. It's complex, but at the same time catchy and plain. Even though it's one of the shortest songs on the album, I feel it's flavored with all the things that make LEPROUS special. It has the catchy chorus, it has the groove, it has prog'ish feel and last but not least it has the heaviness"

July 10, 2011

LEPROUS will have their release party for the new album ("Bilateral" - to be released on Inside Out Music / Century Media worldwide on August 22, 2011) at the venue Blå in Oslo, Norway on September 14, 2011.

June 29, 2011

LEPROUS, the Norwegian progressive/avantgarde metal band that recently signed a worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic can proudly reveal that it has chosen surrealistic American artist Jeff Jordan to create the artwork for their upcoming album, "Bilateral".

See the stunning artwork below:

Commented vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg: "We are proud to announce that we're collaborating with the surrealistic American painter Jeff Jordan and the Spanish designer Ritxi Ostariz for the artwork on our upcoming album. Jeff Jordan (www.jeffjordanart.com) is probably best known from his work with The Mars Volta, and his paintings are highly rated all over the world. Ritxi Ostariz (www.ritxiostariz.xom) did the artwork for our previous album "Tall Poppy Syndrome" (released 2009 through Sensory Records) and of course we want him to be part of this new album - Ritxi too is a critically acclaimed designer, and in our opinion one of the very best in his field."

The band's new album "Bilateral", which was skillfully mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street (Opeth, Pain Of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Symphony X, etc.), will be released on August 22nd, 2011 in Europe and August 23rd, 2011 in North America via InsideOutMusic. "Bilateral" is set to musically re-define what it means to be progressive rock and / or metal, both for the devotees of the genre and the metal fans looking on from a safe distance.

In November 2010 we were the lucky recipients of 25.000 NOK, which one local band receives every year from Willy Strandli's Memorial Fund. Willy Strandli was a local musician who was quite significant for the local music scene in Notodden. Willy died in 1992 and 15 years later some local enthusiasts from Notodden came up with the idea to found this wonderful Memorial Fund.

On Saturday the 14th of May we'll headline the memorial fund concert for Willy Strandli in Notodden Theater, which we of course are looking very much forward to! If you are close to Notodden the 14th of May, don't hesitate to take a visit!

May 02, 2011

We're returning to ProgPower USA on Friday 16th of September, this time as Ihsahn's backing band. Last year we had a great time in Atlanta played there with Leprous, and we're not expecting anything less from the US crowd this year!

February 28, 2011

InsideOutMusic, the leading label for progressive music, is proud to announce a new worldwide deal with one of the most interesting and talented young progressive outfits in today‚€™s scene: LEPROUS from Norway.

"We‚€™re all very happy ... no, delighted ... no, enthusiastic ... no, THRILLED to be a part of the InsideOut / Century Media family! InsideOut has always been the label we‚€™ve considered the most suitable for our music, so this is really a dream come true for us! We're ready to take LEPROUS to new heights in 2011, and the signing with InsideOut / Century Media is just the first step."

LEPROUS are currently busy with studio work for their upcoming, still untitled next album, to be released via InsideOutMusic (Worldwide distribution through Century Media) after the summer of 2011. Stay tuned for more details to drop soon about an extremely interesting listening-experience coming your way soon ...

Here's the first official picture of the new line-up:

January 27, 2011

Leprous will be performing at the Kabuto Metal Festival first in Osaka, Japan on May 21st 2011 and then the following day in Tokyo, Japan.
Also on the same two days, Leprous will be performing at the same festival as the backing band for Ihsahn.

January 20, 2011

We would like to congratulate our good friend and bandmate Ihsahn with the nomination for the Norwegian grammy awards "Spellemansprisen". We can't think of a person who deserves it more!

January 18, 2011

The recording of our new album is now in progress! Tobias did an unbelievably good job with recording all the drums in only two days. The first eight (out of ten) tracks he managed to do in only one day. We will of course post a blog entry about the drum recording, which took place in Juke Joint studio in Notodden. Next up is the guitars!

January 07, 2011

We're proud to announce that both Einar and Tobias from Leprous are contributing on the latest album by Star of Ash; Lakhesis.

Tobias are doing all the acoustic drums, while Einar are doing both lead vocals, backing vocals or vocal harmonies on "Panther in the Glove", "Nona", "A thief in the night" and "The fooling of the fates". The album is in our opinion a masterpiece, and we are really glad to be a part of it. Also contributing on the album is the german musician and composer Marcus Reuter, who plays bass and touch guitars.

We would like you all to support Heidi (Star of Ash) by buying her album here: http://store.mnemosyne.no/product/lakhesis-cd, or here: http://www.theomegaorder.com/STAR-OF-ASH-Lakhesis_3 if you live in the States. Don't hesitate, it's money well spent!

December 21, 2010

Big news Part 1 - Halvor Strand parts with Leprous:
It's with sadness we announce that our bass player and good friend through many years Halvor Strand has chosen to quit Leprous. His decision to quit the band is completely undramatic, and is not based on any sort of conflict. We're all very sorry about this, but we respect his decision and wish him the best of luck in the future. Thanks for everything Halvor! We wish you all the best for the future, and we will follow your projects very closely!

"I'm currently getting busier and busier with other projects apart from Leprous. This means that it came to a point where I had to make a decision. I could no longer "have my cake and eat it too" with all these different creative wheels in motion. Something had to go. Leprous deserves and requires that all members offers their 110 percent. My 110 percent started to get spread around in different projects. I had to follow my heart on this one - and I decided to pursue my own projects.
An extremely difficult decision to make, since the option I chose means that I'm leaving an extremely good band made up of close friends and excellent musicians. I wish to thank Tor Oddmund, Einar, Tobias and √˜ystein for all the great times, and also the trying times that made us stronger! I know this band is destined for great things and I look forward to be an eager follower. I also wish to thank all our fans for being so great and supportive all along the way!
This is it for me in Leprous, but it is definitely not it for Leprous! Go show them, guys!
Signing off with hopes for the future and gratitude for the past,
Halvor Strand"

Big news Part 2 - Rein Blomquist joins Leprous:
Leprous are very happy to announce that we've already got ourselves a new bassplayer! We would like to welcome Rein Blomquist to the Leprous-family! Rein is known from the progressive metal band Aspera (now called Above Symmetry), which released their debut album on Inside Out last year. When we first got the news that Halvor wanted to leave Leprous, the first person we thought about as a replacement was Rein. Rein is a really solid bassplayer with lots of feeling and groove, and he is also a really nice person. Luckily Rein wanted to join the forces without to much hesitation, and he is now a full member of both Leprous and Ihsahn's liveband. Rein will handle the bass on our upcoming album, which we will start recording in January.

Norwegian avantgarde progressive metal band LEPROUS have launched what is believed to be the world's very first mobile website for a metal band. The site, www.leprous.net/mobile, is specifically created for use on modern day smartphones, such as the iPhone, the Blackberry and iPod Touch. With four times as many mobile phones with internet connection than stationary home computers, many businesses worldwide has found the need for updating their homepages to work well on the mobile platform. However, the music business has been lacking in this field and we're very proud to say that LEPROUS (to our knowledge at least) is the first metal/hard rock band ever to enter the mobile world with a homepage specifically designed for iPhone/iPodTouch/Blackberry.

April 19, 2010

We really enjoyed playing on the intimate stage on Skuret in Oslo in February, so we've decided to return to Skuret on Wednesday the 5th of May (the day before our concert in Copenhagen). We've recorded a demo of three of the songs in our home studio, and we might release some short samples from it within the next weeks to give you all a little hint of the direction we're heading.

When and where we will enter the studio is still to be decided, as some important things needs to be sorted out, but we hope to be able to enter the studio in the not to distant future.
